Gasoline prices suddenly increased sharply, nearly 1,000 VND/liter

From 3:00 p.m. on January 25, 2024, the prices of gasoline and oil products will have an increase in price from 10 to more than 900 VND depending on the type of product.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Finance, in this adjustment period, each liter of E5 Ron 92 gasoline increases by 760 VND and 920 VND for Ron 95 gasoline. Diesel and kerosene products are also adjusted differently, specifically:

  • Ron 95 gasoline increased by 920 VND/liter, selling price no higher than 23,400 VND/liter
  • E5 Ron 92 gasoline increased by 760 VND/liter, selling price no more than 22,170 VND/liter
  • Diesel increased by 180 VND/liter, selling price no higher than 20,370 VND/liter
  • Kerosene increased by 10 VND/liter, the selling price was not higher than 20,540 VND/liter
  • Fuel oil reduced by 10 VND/liter, selling price no higher than 15,490 VND/kg

This is the third operating period and also a consecutive increase in the first month of 2024. In this operating period, the inter-Ministry continues to not deduct or spend from the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund.

The cause of the continuous price increase stems from the increase in the world petroleum market over the past 7 days due to the impact of escalating tensions in the Middle East, tightening petroleum supply in the US in the context of cold weather causing disruptions. The production phase has boosted purchasing power in the market, increasing by 4.5 – 5%.
