Many Toyota cars have errors in Vietnam, including the Veloz Cross and Yaris Cross

Four car models including Veloz Cross, Yaris Cross, Avanza Premio and Raize with a total number of nearly 28,000 vehicles need to be recalled because of errors related to the braking system.

Toyota Vietnam suddenly issued a recall and customer care notice for nearly 28,000 owners of car models including Veloz Cross, Yaris Cross, Avanza Premio and Raize imported and manufactured and assembled in the period from January 2022. – August 2023.


According to Toyota, the above vehicle models have loose front shock absorber nuts and a leak in the brake caliper’s dust cap, allowing water to enter and cause rust, leading to brake wear. The above vehicle models need to “tighten the front shock absorber nut” and “replace the front brake lever sliding bolt dust cover”.

Specifically, there will be 19,660 Toyota Veloz Cross cars, including 15,368 imported cars from January 7 – October 28, 2022 and 4,292 cars assembled from November 14, 2022 – August 14, 2023, 5,863 Avanza Premio cars including 3,514 cars imported from January 11 to October 25, 2022 and 2,349 cars assembled from December 7 to August 14, 2023 and Yaris Cross has 448 cars imported from June 2 to August 30, 2023 having problems “damper nut design error”. This total number of Toyota vehicles need to have their errors fixed according to the recall program approved by the Vietnam Register.

The above car models use nuts to install shock absorbers on the car. However, due to a faulty design, the nut tightening force may not be enough to tighten the shock absorber onto the vehicle. When using the vehicle, this nut may become loose, causing abnormal noises. In the worst case, the shock absorber nut may fall off, causing the vehicle to be unstable during operation.


The second technical problem arose in the front brake sliding pin dust cap component. According to Toyota, the front brake lever slider is equipped with a dust cap to prevent dust and water from entering. During the process of assembling the front brake caliper assembly, the assembly tool may rub against the sliding pin dust cover, causing damage to the dust cover. If water gets into the dust cap and causes rust, the brake pads may wear out sooner.

This error occurs in 3 imported Toyota Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio and Raize models in 2022 with a total of 6,368 vehicles. Specifically, there are 3,710 Veloz Cross cars imported from September 12 to October 28, 2022, 1,948 Raize cars imported from September 13 to December 7, 2022 and 710 Avanza Premio cars imported from September 12- October 26, 2022.

For the two models Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio, the brake caliper sliding pin dust cap needs to be replaced and is included in the above recall program to tighten the damper nut. Toyota said that it is the same problem of overcoming technical errors to ensure vehicle quality and safety, but the brake caliper sliding pin dust capture error is not part of the recall program approved by the Registry Department but is part of the customer care program. company’s products.

Toyota Vietnam said that the time to check, repair, and tighten the shock absorber nuts will take about 0.5-2.5 hours/vehicle, and replacing the brake caliper sliding bolt dust cover will take about 1.3-2.4 hours/vehicle. Notably, the four car models with technical errors above are not related to the vehicle quality testing fraud scandal of Daihatsu’s subsidiary in Japan.
